RAMTECH

Objective of the Project

The Research Center on Advanced Materials and Technologies (RAMTECH) project aims to enhance the research competitiveness of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi, by creating a high-level scientific expertise group focused on research fields that have not been theoretically and experimentally approached, because of both absence of high-level specialists and poor research infrastructure and instrumentation. The creation of an European high-standards research center at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University will allow us the development of high scientific and technological level research activity especially in top-level fields like the fabrication and characterization of micro and nano-structured materials and the identification of possible technological applications in: integrated nonlinear optics, photonics, optoelectronics, quantum communications, single-photon quantum states storing, microstructured optical fibers, new laser materials, ferroelectric & multiferroic nanostructured ceramics and films, gas sensors, magnetic field sensors, high-purity substrates, nano-magnetism, photo-magnetism and molecular magnetism.

By setting-up of RAMTECH Center and by the subsequent scientific results, the increased international visibility of the research activity at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University will be obtained as a result of the published papers in international journals, patents and of national and international collaborations.

The center will become an excellence pole of research and innovation in Romania and will attract high-qualified experienced and early carrier researchers in dynamic teams. By attracting research funds from various national and international funding schemes, by promoting knowledge transfer and cooperation with other research institutions and industrial partners and by producing original high level scientific results, we create the basis for a long-term development of our region.

The RAMTECH project frames with the priority axis “Research, Technological Development and Innovation for Competitiveness” of “Sectorial Operational Program – Increase of Economic Competitiveness”. The addressed research fields, devices and the equipment acquired within the project are at the top level of international performance, opening the possibility to approach new themes in fundamental and applicative research and we shall extend the existing ones.
