Scientific Researcher PhD. dr. Roxana STRUNGARU-JIJIE

Dr. Strungaru-Jijie Roxana, received her MSc in Plasma Physics, Spectroscopy and Self-organization from the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi, in 2013 and her PhD degree in Materials Science and in Physics from the University of Lille Science and Technology, France and “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi, Romania in October 2016. Her PhD work mainly focused on the synthesis and characterization of complex nano-structure, such as plasma polymerized styrene (pPS) and composite nanoparticles, to mediate the adhesion of cells. During the post-doctoral research fellowship, she has the opportunity to work on the fabrication and characterization of carbon-based materials for biomedical applications. Starting from 2019, she has expanded its field of interest in environmental science and toxicology, like assessment of the total concentration of Ni, Cd and Pb in various surface waters and sediments, as well as on the potential toxic effects induced by exposure to toxic metals alone or in mixture with other environmental pollutants on aquatic organisms, using zebrafish (Danio rerio) as a model animal. In addition, a new research direction concerning the presence of microplastics in freshwater aquatic ecosystems and their potential toxicological effects on organisms has been developed.
